Shinjuku is never static. Between the skyscrapers of Nishi-Shinjuku, the neon of Kabukicho, and the green calm of Shinjuku Gyoen, the district hosts a year-round calendar of festivals, pop-ups, and seasonal displays. From summer Eisa drums to winter illuminations, there's always something happening.

新宿は常に動いています。西新宿の高層ビル、歌舞伎町のネオン、新宿御苑の緑あふれる静けさの間で、一年中祭りやポップアップ、季節のイベントが開催されています。夏のエイサーから冬のイルミネーションまで、いつでも何かが起きています。

Seven traditional chrysanthemum beds in the Japanese garden, 1 to 15 November 2026. The garden stays open on Mondays that fortnight. Hours 9:00 to 16:30, last entry 16:00. Ordinary garden ticket. Adults ¥500. GTF Green Challenge Day shares the landscape and formal gardens on 7–8 November. Monday 16 November is closed. Orchids start in the greenhouse on the 17th.

日本庭園の伝統菊7壇。2026年11月1日～15日。この2週間は月曜も開園。9:00～16:30、最終入園16:00。入園料のみ。一般500円。11月7・8日は風景式・整形式庭園でGTFグリーンチャレンジデー。16日は休園。洋らんは17日から温室。

The annual Reitaisai of Hanazono Shrine — Shinjuku's grandest festival. Over four days the shrine grounds fill with food stalls and traditional performances, climaxing in the main Raiden mikoshi parade through Kabukicho.

Hanazono’s Tori-no-Ichi (Otori-sai) is four nights in 2026, not two. First rooster: eve Friday 6 November, main Saturday 7 November. Second rooster: eve Wednesday 18 November, main Thursday 19 November. Kumade rakes, stalls, free to enter. EnjoyTokyo lists eve stalls from about 15:00 and main-day stalls from about noon, both to 24:00.

64 shops under 15 years old compete at Okubo Park for a planned 5 million yen prize. Visitors eat, then vote. Legend shops cook but cannot win. Admission is free. Tasting cups are 800 yen until 17:00.

Shinjuku Machi Fes 2026 runs 24 October to 8 November under the theme POWER of SHINJUKU. Fan Street is one Saturday, 11:00 to 15:00, on Shinjuku-dori. Happy Collab deals and a 10-stop mystery rally last the full two weeks. Bar Week is four separate paid nights. Hosts are the Machi Fes committee and Shinjuku CVB. Fan Street is free. Severe weather cancels that Saturday.

Belgian Beer Weekend’s only winter stop is 2 to 6 December 2026 at Shinjuku Sumitomo Building Triangle Square. Indoor hall, 57 beers listed, food, a stage. Entry free. You buy a glass and food-and-drink coins. Weekdays 16:00–22:00, Saturday 11:00–21:00, Sunday 11:00–20:00. The Table is a separate reserved dinner.

Plan Your Visit

Most Shinjuku festivals are free and within walking distance of JR Shinjuku Station. Summer events are crowded and humid, so arrive early, carry water, and wear comfortable shoes. For shopping campaigns, check individual mall websites for exact dates and participation rules.

新宿の祭りの多くは無料で、JR新宿駅から徒歩圏内です。夏のイベントは混雑し暑いため、早めに到着し、水分補給をこまめに、歩きやすい靴でお出かけください。ショッピングキャンペーンは、各モールの公式サイトで開催期間や参加条件を確認してください。
