About Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden

Shinjuku Gyoen is the park Shinjuku actually uses. It was the Naito estate, then an imperial garden, then a national garden under the Ministry of the Environment. Three styles sit in one fence: a broad landscape lawn, a Japanese garden with the Taiwan Pavilion, and a French formal garden, plus a greenhouse. Weekenders from the ward come for walking, not for a selfie stop. Cherry blossom season (roughly late March into April) and the November chrysanthemum exhibition are the two times the garden stays open on Mondays. Last entry is 16:00 from 1 October to 14 March, 17:30 from 15 March to 30 September (18:30 from 11 June to 31 July). The garden is shut before dinner. Eat in Shinjuku after you leave, through Shinjuku Gate toward the station or Sendagaya Gate toward the stadium. Adults pay ¥500, seniors and students ¥250, 15 and under free. IC cards work at the gates. E-tickets are sold through Asoview. Annual passports exist at the ticket windows. Do not treat this row as a mall.
