About This Event / イベントについて
The shrine year list is the source. Ichi-no-Tori is Friday 6 November (eve) and Saturday 7 November (main). Ni-no-Tori is Wednesday 18 November (eve) and Thursday 19 November (main). There is no third rooster in 2026. Older copy that said “7 and 19 only” skipped the eves. Kabukicho people often use the eve.
The point of the fair is the kumade, a decorated rake that is supposed to pull luck in. You pay the stall, then do tejime with the seller. People who buy every year step up a size. EnjoyTokyo files this with Asakusa Otori and Fuchu Okunitama as one of the three big Kanto fairs. It also says about 260 stalls on the grounds.
EnjoyTokyo’s 2026 listing, matching the shrine calendar, puts eve stalls from about 15:00 and main-day stalls from about noon, both until 24:00. The old line about a midnight taiko opening is wrong. After 18:00 the precinct can be stopped at the gate. Shinjuku-sanchome E2 is the door. JR east exit is about seven minutes.
