In my opinion, these are the finest gyoza I have ever tasted; truly impressive!

新宿駅西口そばの思い出横丁にある老舗餃子専門店「餃子の安亭」。
Gyoza no Antei is a long-standing gyoza specialist situated in the legendary Omoide Yokocho alley near Shinjuku Station's west exit. Founded in 1960 during the Showa era, this beloved eatery has been serving nostalgic pan-fried dumplings for over six decades. Its second-floor location above the bustling alley offers a quintessential old-Tokyo dining atmosphere. The restaurant is renowned for its classic gyoza, featuring a perfectly crisp base and juicy pork filling that captures a reassuringly traditional flavour. Diners can also enjoy a range of side dishes whilst watching sport on the in-house television, adding to the casual, convivial ambience. The straightforward menu focuses on doing a few things exceptionally well rather than overwhelming with choice. Open year-round with lunch service from 11:30 and dinner continuing until 23:45, Antei accommodates both daytime shoppers and late-night revellers. The restaurant is just a three-minute walk from JR Shinjuku Station's west exit, making it remarkably convenient for travellers. Weekends see slightly adjusted hours, so checking ahead is advisable.
