MOKUOLA Dexee Diner is a Hawaiian-themed restaurant situated on the eighth floor of Lumine Est Shinjuku at 3-38-1 Shinjuku, directly connected to JR Shinjuku Station's east exit and five minutes' walk from Shinjuku Station on the Tokyo Metro Marunouchi Line. The restaurant's name is inspired by Mokuola, a small island off the coast of Hawaii traditionally associated with healing and tranquillity, a concept reflected in the relaxed, tropical-themed interior designed to offer a brief escape from the intensity of central Shinjuku. The brand is operated by Cardenas, a Japanese restaurant group that also runs several other Hawaiian and cafe concepts. The menu features classic Hawaiian diner fare, with the loco moco, a hamburger patty served on rice with a fried egg and brown gravy, being the standout dish and a consistent best-seller. Other popular items include teriyaki chicken plates, bacon and egg breakfast combos, stacks of fluffy pancakes and a range of tropical drinks. The portion sizes are generous by Japanese standards, staying true to the Hawaiian diner concept, and the kitchen is known for its hearty, comfort-food approach rather than refined presentation. The restaurant has been recognised as one of the better spots for loco moco and pancakes in the Shinjuku area. MOKUOLA operates daily from 11:00 to 22:30, with food last orders at 21:30 and drink last orders at 21:45, following the Lumine Est opening schedule. Its direct connection to Shinjuku Station makes it one of the most easily reached sit-down restaurants in the area, particularly useful on rainy or hot days. Lunchtime between 12:00 and 14:00 on weekdays tends to draw office workers, so visitors with flexible schedules may prefer to dine earlier or later for a calmer experience.
