新宿駅西口近くの思い出横丁にある老舗もつ焼き店。炭火で焼くモツ串が看板です。
Hisago is a long-standing motsuyaki restaurant in Omoide Yokocho, the narrow alleyway near the west exit of Shinjuku Station specialising in charcoal-grilled offal. The area, whose name translates to Memory Lane, is one of the most atmospheric places to eat in Shinjuku, with tiny counter-seat bars that evoke the postwar era of Tokyo's recovery. Hisago's signature dish is motsuyaki, fresh offal simply grilled over charcoal, and the smoky aroma draws regulars and curious visitors alike. The menu also features standard izakaya fare such as yakitori, salad and sake, all served at reasonable prices in a convivial, standing-drinking atmosphere that typifies the yokocho experience. Omoide Yokocho is a one-minute walk from the west exit of JR Shinjuku Station, and Hisago opens from 17:00 to 23:00. The counter fills quickly after work, so arriving before 18:00 offers the best chance of a seat, particularly on Friday and Saturday evenings.
